What came first; the fundraiser or the tech consultant? The fundraiser is the short answer. I’ve always been able to help raise money throughout while working almost 17 years with ASI, the makers of iMIS Cloud.
I’ve played almost every role in a Development Department:
Special Events - golf tournaments / walks and more
Donor Relations - gift processing, acknowledgements and donor services
Major Gifts / Planned Giving - all forms of integrated marketing activities
Database Management - slice / dice / fix data and reports
The last item led me to iMIS where I first mapped out requirements for two extensions and learned the ins and outs of reporting and extracting data using Access and Crystal reports. Back in the 90’s I learned that iMIS could be ‘bent’ to match what a client needed. I’ve been pushing those boundaries ever since.
The tools are different in the Cloud but the goal is the same; make it work the way you need it to.
You likely have a solution provider already, whether it’s ASI or one of the Authorized iMIS Consultants or Solution Providers. Consider me as a ‘fundraising whisperer’ that can work alongside your provider.
Other Adventures and Interests
If you’re lucky, Wellington, the 110lbs of ‘hunkin love’ on the left will appear on a zoom call along side me. If you’re unlucky, he’ll express himself as well. Wellington (Welly) is our Boost It Up mascot.
Dogs are a special love of mine and for 10 years I fostered and adopted from Lab Rescue of the LRCP, a rescue group in the Washington, DC area. There, I was able to put every skill I had to work, some days writing appeals, updating the website, running out to do training with a reactive dog and snapping photos at an adoption event. We even used iMIS Cloud Professional for our fundraising and website tool.
Since returning to Canada and moving to The County, I’ve adapted to live local, buy local and now want to help the local small businesses and organizations in the area. I’m an active member of the Prince Edward County Chamber of Commerce and enjoy networking with other local businesses.
